Celebrating
our Birthday with Big Plans
We Need Your Help
This issue marks one year that we've been publishing Technicity
Times. In this year, we've made many new friends, grown our subscriber
base, and had the privilege to report on some of the great work
in Community Technology that is being done in Los Angeles and around
the country. We look forward to continuing and improving this publication.
And there are challenges ahead.
We need your help.
The need for a publication like this is greater than ever. As our
articles over the past year have shown, there is still a digital
divide, and budgets are tighter than ever. The world has changed
greatly over the past year, and the work of community technology
increasingly overlaps with education, community development, advocacy,
and activism. We have covered some good work going on in all of
those areas, and there is much more to be done.
We'd like to strengthen our ability to contribute to all of these
efforts, and to do that we're looking for ways to grow to the next
level -- to be more than a quarterly volunteer publication, but
rather a vital part of the ongoing work and movements that we report
on. And we need your help.
In the next few issues, we will be rolling out more wide-ranging
article topics, and we encourage you to contact us with ideas, articles,
or leads.
We will also be launching a fund-raising initiative, and we'd love
to hear from you about how to best raise the funds needed to support
this kind of broader publication-- your ideas, leads, or other contributions.
We're also looking for additional funders, partners and sponsors.
Please contact us at editor@technicitytimes.com
with your comments and suggestions.
Thanks for your support over the past year, for your interest in
Technicity Times, and for joining in celebrating our Birthday!
