Letter From the Editors
Dear Friends,
We'd like to welcome you to the introductory issue of Technicity
Times and tell you about it.
Almost every school, library and community center in America has
some variety of technology program. Everywhere you turn, people
are serving the needs of kids, seniors, teenagers, people with disabilities,
the homeless, the poor and the disenfranchised using technology.
They may not realize it, but these people are all part of the community
technology movement. And that movement is growing.
Some people think the digital divide is a thing of the past. That
access is a non-issue, case closed, thank you very much. We intend
to tell a different story. That while great strides have been made,
our work has merely begun.
Think of this newsletter as an open house, a virtual potluck, where
everyone brings something special to the table. A way to let others
know the unique and diverse ways that technology is making a real
impact in your community and the quality of people's lives. We want
to know about your good ideas. Your successes. Your challenges.
If you like what you see here, tell others. If you don't, tell
us. Send us your letters, ideas, stories. We hope that our forthcoming
issues will continue to inspire, engage and inform you about the
issues that matter most to you.
